Tangsa Scripts
On 11th July 2019 at Changlang Circuit House Tribal Welfare & Development Committee(TWDS) organized a one day awareness campaign on Tangsa Scripts writer Shri Lakhum Mossang. Eleven
members of Tangsa Script students attended the meeting.
The president of TWDS Mr. N.Changmi welcomed all the members and briefed about the aims and objectives of the meeting and requested to share their experience. Shri Lakhum Mossang, Tangsa Script writer, has briefed in detail about his 10 years experience about the development of Tangsa script. He has sacrificed his whole life to develop the Tangsa Common script for the larger interest of the people of Tangsa community.
He disclosed name of his students are:(1) Mr Sengkhum Mossang (2) Jokkam Mossang (3) Mr Wanglungf Mossang (4) Mr Remkam Mossang (5)Mr Warrem Mossang (6) Mr Toikam Mossang (7) Miss Singnim Sangkey (8) Nanman Jugli (9) Miss Notam Mossang (10) Miss Tunglem Wangrai (11) Miss Monlik Mossang (12) Miss Tsantam Mossang).
On 6th August 2019 meeting with the Deputy Director of School Education Changlang district in connection with the Public Notice letter NO.EDD/A/179/2018-19 dated 5th August 2019 from the Director of Elementary Education Government of Arunachal Pradesh for the development of local tribal script in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The DDSE has been briefed by the President TWDS to introduce Tangsa Common Script written by Shri Lakhum Mossang to promote, protect local script, dialect and languages and the cultural heritage of Tangsa Community in particular through research ,documentation and dissemination. Shri Lakhum Mossang has a total of 15 Tangsa script language teachers who can teach Tangsa script who are proficient in teaching. The DDSE has assured to recommend the case to the higher authority.
On 17th September 2020 Central Executive Members of TWOS meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Shri N.Changmi President. The meeting was attended by Longphi-Mossang Welfare Association, Tangsa Cultural & Literary Society (TCLS) and Executive Committee members of TWOS. In the meeting members unanimously decided that a separate body under the name & Style of ” TANGSA SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ITSDC) shall be run under the banner of Tribal Welfare & Development Committee. On 3rd July 2021 received letter from Deputy Commissioner Changlang, has constituted board of members for scrutiny and recommendation of the proposal of script to submit to the Director of Elementary Education government of Arunachal Pradesh for further necessary action vide Order NO.EDN/TRIBAL SCRIPT/2018-19/2711-18 dated 314 August 2019. The Chairman of the Tribal Welfare & Development Society (TWDS) was invited for “:TANGSA TRIBAL SCRIPT”. The meeting was attended by (1) Shri T.Jerang ADC as Chairman of the meeting (2) Shri N.Changmi, Chairman TWDS (3) representative from Tutsa Welfare Society (4) Shri Hortum Loyi DOSE (5) Smti L.Kenglang Language Officer (6) One representative from All Longphi-Mossang Welfare Association. The board sitting was called on 5th September 2019 at 3.00 pm .
On 15th July ‘2021 DDSE recommended letter to the Director of Elementary Education Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh Itanagar vide letter NO.ED.116/A.DEV/2019-20 for introduction of Tangsa Script as third language in Changlang district.
On 18th November 2020 Hard copy and softcopy of Tangsa script for printing to be introduced as third language in elementary level School in Changlang district. The DDSE Changlang district forwarded the same to the Director of Elementary Education Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh vide letter N0.116/A.Dev/2020-21 dated 18.11.2020.
On 10th July 2021 Shri Sengkhum Mossang General Secretary and Shri Nanman Jugli Vice President was send to Itanagar to explain the contains of Tangsa Third Language script namely” TEXT BOOK AND WORK BOOK” to State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT). This is with reference to the Director of SCERT letter NO.SCERT-14016/1/2021-SCERT Br-SCERT dated 9th June 2021.
On 23rd August’2021 Shri Sengkhum Mossang and Shri Sengman Ronrang were sent to attend SCERT meeting at Conference Hall SCERT Itanagar to participate in discussion of some modalities and issues related to publication of 3rd Language books of Tangsa Tribes.
On 27th August 2021 President TWDS submitted progress report about the development of Tangsa Script to (1) Shri K.Mossang, HM UD,Municipal ADmn & Govt.Estate Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh(2) Shri P.Khimhun, Hon’ble Advisor to NM PWD Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh (3) Shri L.Simai, Hon’ble Advisor to HM Tourism IPR & Printing Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh (4) Shri S.Mossang HMLA.
On 3`d September 2021 three representatives from Tribal Welfare & Development Society (TWDS) (1) Shri Kamjai Taism ,Head Master Govt.ME School Laktong and (2) Shri Nanman Jugli Vice President (3) Shri Wanglung Mossang, Literary Secretary were send to Itanagar to attend book release function of Tribal Third Language of Arunachal Pradesh on the auspicious occasion of Teachers Day by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Education Minister Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh.
On 4th September 2021 appeal letter seeking financial help to procure office furniture , stationery items etc to (1) Shri K.Mossang, HM UD,Municipal Admn & Govt.Estate Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh(2) Shri P.Khimhun, Hon’ble Advisor to HM PWD Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh (3) Shri L.Simai, Hon’ble Advisor to HM Tourism IPR & Printing Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh (4) Shri S.Mossang .
On 23rd September 2021 Shri Sengkhum Mossang, Shri Nanman Jugli and Shri Wanglung Mossang were deputed to attend a 5(Five ) days organized by the North East Regional Institute of Education(NERIE) Shillong w.e.f. 27 September to 1s` October 2021 on training programme title ” Capacity Building for Textbook writer of Linguistic Minorities of Arunachal Pradesh in selection. Adoption and development of resource materials in Minority language.
From 8th October to 10th October’2021 Shri N.Changmi President TWOS attended awareness campaign on drugs and opium de-addiction which was held at Khimiyang on 8th Oct’2021, Bobang-Il village on 9th Oct’2021 and Saching village on 10th October 2021 by the Muklom Elite Society (MES). The programme was successful. It was decided that rehabilitation camps should be conducted in the entire Muklom area. Village Level Vigilance Committee will be constituted in every village. The committee members will be composed by PRI members,GB, Women and Youth to monitor the village affairs during the drugs and opium eradication movement.
On 26th November’2021 Central Executive Members of TSDC meeting was held at C.T.Restaurent. The members decided that an awareness meeting shall be organised in all the government Higher Secondary Schools of Changlang district and Tangsa inhabited areas of Assam in the month of December 2021 and January2022. It was also decided that donation drive from government employees of Tangsas and general Tangsa public and Tangsa businessman shall be collected in aid of TSDC fund.lt was also decided to inform all the Tangsa sub-tribes Elite society/Welfare society that the Textbook for ClassVII-VIII of the school needs to be drafted /prepared within a very few days. So the TSDC decided to include every sub-tribe dialect (lessons) in those prospective books. Minimum two intellectual persons from each sub-tribes to be selected/assigned who are interested in writing poems books.
